Configuring a Firewall for DYMO ID Security Kiosk

If you are using a Firewall you may have found that kwiklook Visitor ID software does not work across a network. This is because the Firewall restricts certain traffic on the network.

KVKiosk.exe (kwiklook Visitor ID Kiosk) and KVStaff.exe (kwiklook Visitor ID Messenger) both send messages. At this stage KVAdmin.exe (kwiklook Visitor ID Reception / Administration) only receives messages but that will change in a future release.

The packet size is tiny. Message length plus workstation name length plus four bytes. With the formatted messages sent by the kiosk. This size is guaranteed to be less than 500 bytes.

Note: at present kwiklook Visitor ID software does not work through a proxy server.

The kwiklook Visitor ID Setup (installation)programs create a user on Windows which kwiklook ID software uses to log-on to the KVKiosk share, which is located on the Home computer by default.

How to completely remove kwiklook Visitor ID Software

To completely remove kwiklook Visitor ID,  kwiklook Visitor ID Reception or kwiklook Visitor ID Messenger, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to: Start | Programs > kwiklook Visitor ID > Remove kwiklook Visitor ID.  

  2. Highlight the kwiklook Visitor ID installation you want to remove and select Uninstall.

  3. Go to Start | Run and enter "Regedit" in the Open: dialog.

  4. In the Registry Editor window navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Future IT > VA KIOSK, then delete the VA KIOSK Folder.

  5. Close the Registry Editor window.

  6. Open My Computer or Windows Explorer, navigate to: C:\Program Files\, find the KVKiosk folder and delete it.

Congratulations! You have completely removed kwiklook Visitor ID software from the computer.
